Unaccustomed as I am to commenting upon astronomical phenomena; it looks to me like these three objects are forming up to give us a fine sight either next month or the month after.

The moon, as initially shown above, moves leftward each day, relative to the two planets, until after one month, or less, it appears again to the right of the two planets.

While this procession is going on the right-most planet is moving to the left, closer and closer toward its neighbour.

Thus the moon and the two planets should all be very close to each other in March or in April.

In fact the days to watch for are:
25 & 26 February 2012, and
25 2012 March.

I have photographed clumps of frog spawn in our pond since 2006 and this year is the earliest I’ve seen them, 26 January. We are near the coast in Southern Hampshire and January has been mild, please say this means a good summer!

28th January 2012

Whilst gardening today was so surprised to find 3 x very large clumps of frogspawn in our overgrown 1m x 1/2 metre garden pond in St Mawes, Cornwall. We always have some, but never this early and I had hoped to the pond before Spring! Now it will all have to put on hold!
