Beach combing and sea ducks – Embo toward Littleferry

Mid March; the vernal equinox; rain passed through and sunshine was available; a stiff north wind; it was a clear, cool spring day and very pleasant.

The birdlist was modest.

Behind the frontal dune is a myriad of lochans, heathland, coniferous forest, rose briar and gorse areas, and, the old roadbed of the Dornoch railway.

Our return path from the entrance to Loch Fleet was through this back-dune area and along the rail line.  Many of the lochans showed fresh frog spawn.
