I have photographed clumps of frog spawn in our pond since 2006 and this year is the earliest I’ve seen them, 26 January. We are near the coast in Southern Hampshire and January has been mild, please say this means a good summer!

Whilst gardening today was so surprised to find 3 x very large clumps of frogspawn in our overgrown 1m x 1/2 metre garden pond in St Mawes, Cornwall. We always have some, but never this early and I had hoped to the pond before Spring! Now it will all have to put on hold!

Thanks Annie for your observation. If you see the notes below from David McAllister and Dr John W Wilkinson you will see that there are recording sites who are definitely interested in observations like yours.

We are a local field club in Northern Scotland and probably will not see spawn until later this month or next month, though it is quite warm just now.
