In Scotland, we tend to think of Aspen as a rather scarce tree.
But, together the Eurasian aspen Populus Tremula and the closely related Quaking aspen P. Tremuloides of North America have the widest natural range of any tree species in the world.
What makes Aspen special? And, does it deserve a bigger space in the Scottish Landscape?
